In 2021, I was recruited as a Senior Client Partner by Copa90, La Liga and Portaventura World, to help lead the creation, build, testing and launch of a new augmented reality football gaming app called- The Beat Challenge and a supporting conceptual bar and restaurant- LaLiga TwentyNine’s (onsite at Portaventura World). This partnership was a €150 million investment plan to help launch the new joint venture, LaLiga Entertainment.
We created a world-first entertainment experience that elevated the in-park experience at PortAventura World to a whole new level. The Beat Challenge brings the excitement of the park and LaLiga into visitors’ palms by offering a hybrid gaming experience that enhances the park’s physical infrastructure with a digital overlay.
The app leveraged augmented reality and geolocation technology to bring the virtual football world to life within the theme park, engaging audiences with their physical surroundings. Guided and challenged by 200-ft-tall AR La Liga legends, such as Gerard Piqué, Karim Benzema, and Jan Oblak, users can unlock and play different football-themed games in each area of the park, encouraging them to discover an evolving, immersive experience like no other.
Here I was responsible for coordinating several teams and stakeholders, over 3 languages & 2 timezones, managing sprints, deadlines, project objectives, onsite visits, ensuring app and restaurant plans were on-brand and on time.
